Uber orders 24,000 Volvo SUV's for Autonomous Taxi Fleet
The alliances between the automakers, the "taxi" companies Uber and Lyft, and now, suddenly, Chinese entities in the production of autonomous vehicles are fascinating and instructive. Volvo will ship vehicles to Uber, which will then install the self-driving technology. But, Volvo wants to produce its own self-driving vehicle by 2021. And given China's focus on AI and electric vehicles, it's not likely ever to take a back seat in the global auto business again.
